Oman today_ Jafar Panahi’s latest film, A Simple Accident (Un Simple Accident), premiered on Tuesday night at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, receiving an eight-minute standing ovation from the audience. This work, featured in the festival’s main competition section, has garnered largely positive reviews from critics.
Panahi was warmly welcomed by the attendees upon entering the screening hall, where he displayed a peace sign as a gesture of respect and solidarity during the applause. Following the screening, he delivered a heartfelt speech, stating: “I would like to dedicate this screening to all the artists who have been forced to leave their country. I hope for a day when we can all work freely and rebuild our homeland together.”
