Oman today_ The Royal Opera House Muscat has unveiled its diverse programme for January 2026, marking the start of a vibrant year for art enthusiasts with a mix of stage performances, cultural events, and educational activities.

The month kicks off with Cinderella on Ice, performed on Thursday, 1 January, and Friday, 2 January at 7:00 pm, and Saturday, 3 January at 4:00 pm at the Royal Opera House Muscat. This family-friendly production offers a fresh take on the classic Cinderella story through expressive ice skating and storytelling.

On Thursday, 8 January, and Friday, 9 January at 7:00 pm, the Royal Opera House Muscat Maidan will host the Folk Music Festival. Groups from Oman, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Mexico, and Hungary will showcase traditional music and dance, celebrating the rich cultural diversity of the world.

January’s programme goes beyond stage performances. On 24 January, the educational event Let’s Read! will take place at the ROHM Music Library, introducing children to the journeys of Ibn Battuta through engaging storytelling. Later that day, at 12:30 pm, Lunch Music at the Opera Galleria will offer a free midday concert featuring excerpts from Puccini’s Tosca.

Ahead of the Tosca performances, the Opera Talk session will be held on 28 January at ROHM, led by musicologist Gaston Fournier, providing audiences with deeper insights into the opera. Tosca, directed by Fabio Mastrangelo and featuring an international cast, will be performed on Thursday, 29 January, and Saturday, 31 January at 7:00 pm.

Closing the month’s programme is Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in Liszt’s Two-Piano Version, performed on Friday, 30 January at 7:00 pm by pianists Hélène Mercier and Louis Lortie, accompanied by soloists and choir.

The January 2026 programme reflects the Royal Opera House Muscat’s commitment to delivering high-quality artistic productions, fostering international cultural exchange, and offering diverse opportunities for its audiences. This momentum will continue into February with two special family performances designed to inspire young audiences and bring families together through music and storytelling.
