Oman today_ Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has achieved a remarkable milestone in the academic arena by securing third place in the 2025 Arab Universities Ranking for the first time. This ranking is organized by the Association of Arab Universities (AArU), based in Amman, Jordan, affiliated with the Arab League, in collaboration with the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils.

A key feature of this ranking is its precise and automated evaluation process, conducted without human intervention, providing a clear and reliable picture of the academic, research, and educational quality of participating institutions. Evaluations are based on four main criteria: quality of education and learning, the quantity and impact of scientific research, innovation and creativity, and local and international collaboration combined with community service.

This marks the third edition of the Arab Universities Ranking, and SQU participated for the first time. The university successfully claimed third place among 236 participating universities from 20 Arab countries, highlighting its rapid integration into the region’s leading academic institutions and reinforcing its standing in the Arab higher education landscape.

Achieving this rank not only enhances the university’s credibility in education and research but also reflects SQU’s commitment to its strategic vision of academic excellence and fostering a knowledge-based economy.

This accomplishment also aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, playing a crucial role in strengthening research and innovation, expanding regional and international collaborations, and cultivating highly capable graduates and researchers.
