Oman today_ Erling Haaland made history in the UEFA Champions League by scoring against Real Madrid. In his first 50 appearances in the competition, he has scored more goals than any player in the tournament’s history. Against Real, Haaland converted a decisive penalty at the Bernabéu to secure a 2-1 victory for Manchester City, marking his 51st goal in the Champions League.

With this achievement, Haaland surpassed stars like Ruud van Nistelrooy and now leads the list of top scorers in the first 50 games of the Champions League with a total of 55 goals, including those scored as a substitute.

After the match, Haaland said: “Playing against Real Madrid in this stadium is never easy, but I’m really happy with the win. These are the kind of games you want to be part of. Two matches remain, and we need to win them to secure a spot in the top eight.”

Before joining Manchester City, Haaland also scored prolifically for Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund. In March 2023, he delivered one of his most memorable performances, scoring five goals in Manchester City’s 7-0 win over Leipzig in the Round of 16 second leg.
