Oman today_ Netflix has made a rare move by deciding to release a physical edition of the film Frankenstein. This highly popular movie, directed by Guillermo del Toro, is an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic novel and stars Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi. Del Toro confirmed on the social media platform X, in response to a fan, that this edition will include deleted scenes and additional content.
It is not yet clear which company will distribute the Blu-ray version of Frankenstein, but there is a possibility of collaboration between Netflix and the Criterion Collection. Criterion has previously released several of del Toro’s notable films, including The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth, and Nightmare Alley.
The company has also produced physical editions of other Netflix titles, such as The Irishman directed by Martin Scorsese, Roma by Alfonso Cuarón, The Power of the Dog by Jane Campion, and Marriage Story by Noah Baumbach.
Frankenstein was produced with a budget exceeding $120 million and attracted approximately 76 million viewers on Netflix within its first 10 days of release. The film ranked as the most-watched movie on Netflix in 85 countries during its opening weekend. Additionally, it received a limited theatrical release to qualify for the Academy Awards.
