Oman today_ Masirah Island is the largest island in Oman, located in the Arabian Sea about 12 to 20 kilometers off the eastern coast of the country. Administratively, it belongs to the Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate and stretches approximately 95 kilometers in length, with a width ranging from 12 to 14 kilometers. The island features pristine beaches, clear waters, and some rocky shorelines, making it ideal for activities such as beach walks, birdwatching, observing turtles, and swimming or diving in clean waters.

Masirah is one of the world’s most important nesting sites for sea turtles, particularly the Loggerhead species. During certain seasons, the island’s prevailing winds make it a popular destination for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Access to the island is typically via road to the Shannah Port, followed by a ferry ride, which together takes a few hours. Thanks to its untouched nature and adventurous opportunities, Masirah Island is a lesser-known yet highly attractive destination for tourists in Oman.
