Oman today_ The Greater Muscat Structural Plan has been awarded the Smart Cities Award. This recognition was presented during the World Architecture Festival 2025 held in Miami, USA, a festival regarded as one of the most prominent international events in the field of urban planning and design.

This achievement reflects the vision of the Greater Muscat Structural Plan for developing a smart and sustainable city, capable of addressing the challenges of population growth, embracing a knowledge-based economy, and advancing integrated and modern transportation systems.

At the festival, the Greater Muscat Structural Plan was also selected as one of the Top 10 Future Projects worldwide in the Masterplanning category. This success was achieved in a competition that included 19 distinguished international projects from leading companies and offices specializing in urban planning and design, highlighting the project’s global prominence.

Nasser Abdul Latif Al Saigh, the project’s Technical Director, explained that participation in this festival provides a valuable opportunity to showcase current and future urban projects of Greater Muscat to a global audience of architecture and urban planning experts. He added that this experience allowed for learning from international practices, connecting with global work teams, and presenting the plan to esteemed judges.

He emphasized that receiving this award represents international recognition of the quality of the Greater Muscat Structural Plan and demonstrates that the project is the result of extensive collaboration between the public and private sectors.
