Oman today_ Oman Airports Company has announced that Muscat International Airport will be equipped with Wi-Fi 7, making it the first airport in the world to fully adopt the seventh generation of wireless internet.

This technology offers significantly higher speeds compared to previous generations, while greatly improving stability and the capacity for simultaneous connections for passengers and airport operations. The seventh-generation Wi-Fi can deliver speeds of several gigabits per second, and even as the number of connected devices increases, the network quality remains consistent. Its low latency also makes it ideal for smart airport applications, baggage management, automated services, and security systems.

Oman Airports Company emphasized that implementing Wi-Fi 7 is part of the country’s digital transformation program, aligned with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. The initiative aims to enhance smart infrastructure, improve service quality, and elevate the passenger experience.

According to official statements, the technology will first be rolled out at Muscat Airport, with plans to consider expanding it to other airports across the country. This move significantly strengthens Muscat Airport’s position among the world’s most technologically advanced airports.
