Oman today_ The tourism ministers of Iran and Oman met in Riyadh to explore ways to strengthen cooperation in tourism, culture, and the blue economy between the two countries.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of developing joint tourism projects and enhancing regional collaboration through cultural and marine initiatives. The Iranian tourism minister highlighted the need for regional cooperation in marine tourism and Iran’s national plan to expand coastal tourism, stating: “The development of marine tourism not only strengthens cultural and economic interactions but also brings people closer together.”
It was proposed that flights between Tehran and Muscat be increased, joint tourism exhibitions be organized, and cultural events be held to showcase the tourism potential of both countries. Iran is also ready to expand health tourism and accommodate Omani visitors. The Iranian minister invited his Omani counterpart to attend the Tehran International Tourism Exhibition in February 2026 to explore further opportunities for collaboration.
The Omani tourism minister described Iran as a strategic and historic partner and welcomed the deepening of bilateral tourism cooperation. He called the proposal for collaboration in marine tourism intelligent and practical, noting that Oman, with over 40 ports and access to three seas, is ready to sign a cooperation agreement with Iran in this field. He also acknowledged Iran’s appeal as a destination for health, historical, and nature-based tourism for Omani travelers.
