Oman today_ Lionsgate has released the first official trailer for Michael, a biographical film about the legendary pop icon Michael Jackson, starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson in the role of his late uncle.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, the film aims to offer a comprehensive look at the King of Pop’s extraordinary life — from his early years performing with the Jackson 5, to his rise to global superstardom, and the controversies that surrounded his later years. Michael Jackson, who passed away in June 2009, remains one of the best-selling artists of all time, with more than 400 million records sold worldwide.
The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Miles Teller as Jackson’s attorney Howard Weitzman, Colman Domingo as his father Joe Jackson, Nia Long as his mother Katherine Jackson, Kendrick Sampson as Quincy Jones, Kat Graham as Diana Ross, Jessica Sula as La Toya Jackson, and Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy, founder of Motown Records.
Reports indicate that following objections from Jackson’s family, parts of the screenplay were rewritten, and several sensitive scenes involving allegations of abuse were removed. These revisions ultimately led the studio to split the project into two separate parts.
Michael is scheduled for release on April 24, 2026, and is already considered one of the most anticipated biographical films of the coming years.
