Oman today_ The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has achieved a major international milestone by winning the top award in the Road Safety category at the prestigious International Road Federation (IRF) Global Competition. The announcement was made during an official ceremony held in Athens, Greece.

According to reports, the award was presented in recognition of the ROP’s innovative use of artificial intelligence and smart technologies to improve traffic management and reduce road accidents across the Sultanate.

The Director General of Traffic received the award on behalf of the Royal Oman Police, describing it as a significant step toward advancing intelligent transportation systems in Oman.

The winning initiative was developed through a collaboration between the ROP and Huawei Oman, featuring advanced solutions such as AI-powered traffic monitoring, real-time accident data analysis, and scientific identification of high-risk areas. Officials stated that the integration of these technologies has led to a notable decline in road accidents and enhanced emergency response efficiency nationwide.

The annual IRF Awards, presented by one of the world’s leading institutions in transport infrastructure, honour projects that demonstrate excellence in road safety and sustainable transportation development.

This recognition marks a remarkable achievement for Oman, underscoring the country’s growing leadership in leveraging technology to enhance public safety and promote intelligent traffic management.
