Oman today_ On Thursday, FIFA unveiled the official mascots for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a tournament that will, for the first time, feature 48 teams and be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The mascots include “Maple,” a caribou representing Canada; “Zyoo,” a jaguar representing Mexico; and “Klutch,” a bald eagle representing the United States. According to FIFA, these three characters embody the vibrant cultures, traditions, and identities of the host nations, symbolizing unity, diversity, and a shared passion for football.
Each mascot has been given its own backstory: Maple is described as a street artist, music enthusiast, and passionate goalkeeper; Zyoo reflects Mexico’s lively traditions and culture; and Klutch, with its adventurous spirit, curiosity, and confidence, explores the United States and its wide range of cultures, games, and experiences.
The tournament will kick off on June 11, 2026, with the opening match in Mexico City, and conclude on July 19 with the final in East Rutherford, near New York. The group stage draw is scheduled to take place on December 5, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
