Oman today_ Oman’s national football team, led by Carlos Queiroz, finished fourth in the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Championship. In the third-place playoff, Oman lost 3-2 to India on penalties, despite taking the lead through Jameel Al Yahmadi before conceding the equalizer in the 80th minute.
The tournament was part of Oman’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifying playoffs. Over four matches, Queiroz rotated his lineup to test different combinations and gain a clearer understanding of his squad.
However, injuries to players such as Khalid Al-Braiki, Arshad Al-Alawi, Hatem Al-Rashdi, Sultan Bader, Amjad Al-Harthi, and Salah Al-Yahyaei have raised serious concerns for the coaching staff. The situations of Amjad and Salah are particularly worrying, making it crucial for the medical team to ensure they are ready for the decisive upcoming fixtures against Qatar and the UAE.
