Oman today_ The release of the fifth installment of the animated film “Shrek,” originally scheduled for December 2026, has been postponed by six months to June 30, 2027. This delay means there will be nearly a 17-year gap between the fourth film, released in 2010, and the upcoming sequel. Mike Myers will once again voice Shrek, joined by returning cast members Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Jon Hamm, Jane Lynch, Craig Robinson, Walt Dohrn, Julie Andrews, John Cleese, and John Lithgow. Zendaya will also join the voice cast, portraying Felicia, Shrek’s daughter. The film will be directed by Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon, with Gina Shay and Chris Meledandri serving as producers. The “Shrek” franchise, which began in 2001 with the Oscar-winning first film for Best Animated Feature, has since released four main installments and two spin-off films from the “Puss in Boots” series, collectively grossing over $2.9 billion worldwide.
