Oman today_ From 31 August 2025, the GCC Green Mobility Forum will be held in the Wilayat of Salalah, Dhofar Governorate. The event will bring together specialists and experts from GCC member countries to explore sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions in transportation and promote the use of clean and alternative modes of transport.
Organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, the forum provides an opportunity to exchange experiences, share policies, and present environmental initiatives in the transport sector, while paving the way to achieve carbon emission reduction targets.
The forum’s activities began with a virtual GCC workshop, attended by representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait, aimed at developing practical mechanisms for sustainable mobility and regional cooperation.
Additionally, Dhofar Governorate will host sports and educational activities for children on 15–16 August. These activities include a marathon, a dedicated cycling track, and educational programs in a safe environment under specialist supervision, with the goal of instilling a culture of green mobility and promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle from an early age.
Prior to the main forum, a series of specialized workshops will be held, including the “Gulf Youth Lead Change” workshop and the “Green Corridors for Gulf Ports” workshop. Several key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) will also be signed to pave the way for strategic partnerships in green transportation.
