Oman today_ Oman Air is planning to introduce its first-ever city check-in service in Muscat. This service will allow passengers to drop off their luggage and complete the check-in process before arriving at the airport. The aim is to reduce congestion and streamline the travel experience at Muscat International Airport, enabling passengers to head straight to immigration and spend less time waiting in lines.
According to Oman Air CEO, Con Korfiatis, the initiative will be launched as a trial. If well received, there is potential for further expansion and investment. He also expressed hope that the service will be introduced before the end of the year.
Previously, Oman Air had implemented a similar service in Salalah in collaboration with Transom Handling, under the name “Maraheb.” This service, especially popular during the Khareef season, allowed passengers to complete travel procedures such as baggage drop-off and boarding pass collection at Salalah Gardens Mall.
The introduction of city check-in is part of Oman Air’s broader strategy to enhance the passenger experience and improve operational efficiency, particularly during peak travel seasons.
