Oman today_ The third season of the Korean series Squid Game has set a new record on Netflix, attracting over 60.1 million viewers within just the first three days of its release. The season quickly became the most-watched title of the week on the platform and reached ninth place among Netflix’s most-viewed non-English-language series of all time.
The season entered the weekly Top 10 list in 93 countries and, for the first time, ranked number one across all global markets. Previously, the show’s second season had reached 68 million viewers within its first four days. With the release of season three, both earlier seasons have reentered the weekly Top 10 chart. The first season, with 265 million views in its first 91 days, still holds the title of the most-watched Netflix series in history.
In the new season, the story continues with Seong Gi-hun, whose failed attempt to fight back against the deadly game system leads him into another round of violent and high-stakes challenges. The cast includes Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man, as well as Im Si-wan, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Joo-young, and Wi Ha-joon. According to the plot of the second season, Gi-hun travels to the United States in pursuit of the masterminds behind the brutal games.
Meanwhile, Netflix is currently developing an American adaptation of Squid Game, with acclaimed director David Fincher attached to the project.
