Oman today_ Oman has become a successful model in the region with its remarkable achievements in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to the latest data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the country’s population surpassed 5.3 million as of June 2025, comprising over 3 million Omani citizens and approximately 2.3 million expatriates. Economically, the average monthly household income stands at OMR 1,174, and the per capita income is OMR 234, reflecting steady growth.

By eradicating extreme poverty ahead of the 2030 global deadline, Oman has taken a significant step toward improving social conditions. All citizens now live above the international poverty line. In healthcare, maternal mortality has decreased to 17.1 per 100,000 live births, and under-five mortality has dropped to 11 per 1,000, achieving global standards.

In education, adult literacy has reached 97.9%, and the primary school completion rate stands at 95.6%. However, a gender gap persists in post-basic education, with 74% of females completing this level compared to 50.4% of males.

In renewable energy, projects like the Ibri Solar Power Plant have increased clean energy sources to 4% of the country’s total energy consumption. Successful implementation of disaster risk reduction and climate change management strategies has further reduced disaster-related deaths to 0.06 per 100,000 people and ensured that all wastewater is treated.

These achievements position Oman as a leading example of integrating economic development, social equity, and environmental stewardship while underscoring its commitment to realizing Vision 2040.
