Oman today_ The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 22 in Paris. For the first time ever, the number of awards given to women and men will be equal. Three new awards have been added to the women’s category: Best Goalkeeper, Best Young Player, and Top Scorer. This means six awards will be presented to male players and six to female players.
Additionally, the Socrates Award, recognizing humanitarian efforts and promoting solidarity, will be given to both men and women. The nominees for these awards will be announced in early August, with expectations of a highly competitive race among the players.
In previous years, the timing of the ceremony often clashed with international match schedules, preventing many female players and key coaches from attending. Organizers now hope that these changes will lead to fuller attendance and a better event overall. Last year’s ceremony was also controversial, as Real Madrid boycotted the event after their player Vinicius Junior did not receive the Best Player award.
