Oman today_ The Asian Wrestling Championships will be held from March 24 to 29 in Amman, the capital of Jordan. The Iranian national wrestling team, under the decision of the coaching staff, will participate in the tournament with a lineup of junior wrestlers.
Nima Sadeghi, one of Iran’s Olympic referees, explained that according to the regulations of the United World Wrestling (UWW), referees who officiate at the Olympics are required to participate in senior continental competitions. These tournaments are considered part of the evaluation and monitoring process for referees, which they must undergo annually.
He added, “For this reason, I, along with Mohammad Mosallaipour, Saeed Abbasi, Kamran Soltanzadeh, and Mehdi Bashirzadeh, will travel to Jordan to officiate at the Asian Wrestling Championships.”
Sadeghi also highlighted the positive performance of referees in the World Club Cup Championships recently held in Tehran. He stated that the event was conducted smoothly, with minimal challenge requests from teams.
Furthermore, Sadeghi commented on the removal of Mohammad Mosallaipour, the head of the Iranian Wrestling Federation’s Refereeing Committee, from the membership of the UWW Refereeing Council. He noted, “Following the Paris Olympics, changes were made to the members of the UWW Refereeing Council, and Mr. Mosallaipour was removed from the council. This decision must be respected, and efforts should be made to regain this position in the future.”
