Oman today_ The first day of Paris Men’s Fashion Week for Fall-Winter 2025 ended with a brilliant runway show by Louis Vuitton. This unique collection, the result of the collaboration between two major artists, Pharrell Williams and Nigo, is a reflection of the long and special relationship between these two creative figures. Pharrell, the creative director of Louis Vuitton, alongside Nigo, the creative director of Kenzo, designed this collection in a distinctive way, with their friendship and collaboration dating back years.
However, the story behind this collaboration is more than just a creative partnership. In fact, Pharrell Williams initially suggested Nigo for the position of creative director at Louis Vuitton, but due to Nigo’s commitments with Kenzo, Pharrell himself took on the role. Pharrell shared with WWD about his relationship with Nigo: “Every day I wake up and know I have a brother; someone who has taught me a lot and is still by my side.”
The collection, titled “Remember the Future,” is a blend of the personal signatures of these two artists and their cultural heritage. In every piece of this collection, the imprint of 30 years of friendship and collaboration between the two designers is visible. From the pastel pink, reminiscent of cherry blossoms in Japan, to the Gyoza shapes directly connected to Nigo’s culture, everything in the collection tells the story of these two artists. Special designs such as Nigo’s cap, the new Louis Vuitton iconography with Japanese motifs, and even portraits of the two artists printed on the items, further enhance the beauty and authenticity of the collection.
The Y2K silhouettes, inspired by early 2000s street style, directly reference the early years of their collaboration. In this collection, the lobster motif, designed in remembrance of their first shared fishing trip, appeared in many pieces, where each lobster symbolized a special memory and moment.
Accessories, especially the bags, were creatively designed. The origami bag shaped like a lobster and the jewelry, with intricate details, turned each piece into a work of art.
One of the most captivating elements was the new LV ButterSoft shoes, which were designed in such a way that the tread of both shoes was identical, symbolizing the inseparability of the friendship between these two artists.
The soundtrack of the show, which was always of special importance, featured three original tracks by Pharrell Williams, adding a unique energy to the fashion display.
The stage design for the show was handled by the design company WonderWall, and with 24 showcases full of Louis Vuitton works, it beautifully showcased fashion and culture at their best.
In the end, these two artists, by combining Nigo’s 20th-century workwear archive with Pharrell Williams’ innovative style, presented an extraordinary collection of street style and dandism that was not only admired by critics but also praised by celebrities in the front row of the show, including Kalem Turner, Idris Elba, Travis Scott, Adrien Brody, and Bradley Cooper.
