Oman today_ The South Korean Football Association has announced its interest in hosting the AFC Asian Cup in 2035. In this regard, an official letter has been sent to the Asian Football Confederation to formally express this initial interest. A separate request has also been submitted for hosting the 2031 edition, although officials have stated that only one of the two tournaments will ultimately be pursued as the main target.

According to the association, this move is currently at the preliminary expression-of-interest stage, and a final decision will be made after a thorough review of conditions, infrastructure, operational capacity, and scheduling. If the bid moves forward, a formal hosting dossier will be prepared and submitted in line with AFC rules and requirements.

Competition for hosting the AFC Asian Cup in 2031 and 2035 is expected to be intense, as many countries from across Asia have shown interest in staging the tournament. In addition, based on the AFC’s recent policies, the possibility of a joint bid by multiple countries is also considered likely.

South Korea is relying on its strong track record in hosting major international sporting events, well-equipped stadiums, advanced transportation systems, and strong public support for football—factors that could significantly strengthen its bid.

The AFC is expected to launch the official application process in the near future and, following technical evaluations and assessments, announce the host nations for upcoming editions of the AFC Asian Cup.
