Oman today_ Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve is one of Oman’s most important and famous turtle nesting sites, located in the eastern part of the country in the Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate. It lies near the village of Ras Al Hadd, about 50 kilometers east of the coastal city of Sur, and approximately 250 kilometers from Muscat, the capital. The drive from Muscat takes around three to three and a half hours.

This coastal reserve is world-renowned for being a nesting ground for thousands of green sea turtles, which return here every year to lay their eggs. It plays a vital role in the conservation of endangered marine species and is one of the most significant ecological sites in the region. Beyond its environmental importance, Ras Al Jinz is also a popular eco-tourism destination, offering visitors the chance to join nighttime guided tours to witness the turtles nesting on the beach — an unforgettable experience combined with the natural beauty and tranquility of Oman’s coastline.
