Oman today_ The 51st César Awards ceremony will take place on February 27, 2026, and during the event, renowned Canadian actor Jim Carrey will be honored with an honorary award.
The Honorary César is presented to artists whose contributions to cinema have left a lasting impact. Often regarded as the French equivalent of the Academy Awards, this recognition has previously been awarded to figures such as Julia Roberts, Christopher Nolan, Cate Blanchett, Penélope Cruz, David Fincher, Robert Redford, and George Clooney.
Now 63 years old, Jim Carrey began his artistic career as a stand-up comedian before joining the television show In Living Color, which marked his entry into acting. In the 1990s, he rose to international fame with hit films such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber.
In a statement, the César Academy noted:
“Through these films, Carrey has brought to life energetic, free-spirited, and unforgettable characters that have become an inseparable part of popular culture.”
Carrey went on to solidify his reputation with acclaimed performances in The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Man on the Moon, earning Golden Globe Awards for his work. His performance in Showtime’s series Kidding further showcased the depth and range of his talent.
In addition, back in 2010, Carrey was awarded the French Order of Arts and Letters, receiving the title of Knight from then Minister of Culture Frédéric Mitterrand in recognition of his artistic contributions.
