Oman today_ Oman marked its official entry into wellness tourism with the launch of the first Wellness Tourism Forum in Muscat. The event, aimed at positioning the country as a new destination combining health, nature, and culture, showcased a range of initiatives to develop Oman’s wellness tourism sector. These plans focus on empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to provide local products, expanding hotel and resort infrastructure, and designing specialized wellness packages.
A key highlight of the forum was the introduction of Jabal Akhdar and the historic village of Suwgra as models for mountain wellness retreats. With pristine nature, clean air, and rich heritage, these destinations offer visitors a therapeutic and restorative experience. Complementing this, Dhofar was spotlighted through the Royal Farm in Razat, while North Sharqiyah featured cultural activities in the historic villages of Al Manzfah and Al Qanater, both presented as fresh additions to Oman’s growing tourism landscape.
Oman’s main focus is on sustainability and local community participation, ensuring that the growth of wellness tourism not only attracts international visitors but also delivers direct cultural and economic benefits to its people. With these efforts, Oman is moving closer to becoming a leading destination for wellness and sustainable tourism at both the regional and global levels.
