Oman today_ The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has announced a tender for the design and implementation of a 9-kilometer dual carriageway project in North Al Batinah Governorate. The new road will connect the Suhar junction with the Al Batinah Expressway bridge and is expected to be completed within 18 months.

The project aims to reduce traffic congestion during peak hours, improve traffic flow, and enhance road safety standards. The development plan includes the construction of several roundabouts, installation of concrete culverts to manage stormwater during heavy rainfall, and the implementation of road lighting. These measures are designed to create safer driving conditions and improve the overall quality of the road for users.

Other key objectives of the project include facilitating the movement of emergency and service vehicles, improving the efficiency of the road transport network, and preparing the route to accommodate future increases in traffic volume.

By providing stronger connections between major roads and surrounding neighborhoods, the new dual carriageway is expected to play a vital role in strengthening transport infrastructure, enhancing the quality of life for residents, and stimulating socio-economic activity in North Al Batinah Governorate.
