Oman today_ Kim Kardashian has once again made headlines in the world of fashion and beauty with the launch of a new product from her brand, Skims. On July 28, Skims introduced its latest item: a face mask—also referred to as a face shaper—made of sculpting compression fabric infused with collagen fibers. The product is designed to wrap tightly around the jawline, chin, and neck like a band.
According to Skims, the mask is intended for nighttime use as part of a skincare routine and is marketed as a non-invasive alternative to face-lifts and Botox, claiming to improve facial contour and prevent sagging.
However, many dermatologists and beauty experts have pushed back against these claims. They argue that the mask’s effects are only temporary and largely due to the pressure it applies to the face, which may reduce puffiness but has no proven long-term cosmetic benefits. Experts also note that the collagen fibers in the fabric are unlikely to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, and prolonged use could potentially cause skin irritation, interfere with lymphatic drainage, and weaken facial muscles.
Despite these concerns, the face mask sold out shortly after its release, generating widespread reactions online. Among them was a humorous post by actor Anthony Hopkins, who shared a photo of himself wearing the mask and jokingly referenced his role as Hannibal Lecter, writing: “Hello Kim, I feel ten years younger!”
The product is priced between $48 and $68, depending on the model.
