Oman today_ The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) has officially joined the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO), an international body that supports the development and advancement of free and economic zones around the world.
This membership marks an important step in enhancing the global competitiveness and visibility of Oman’s economic and industrial zones. The zones under OPAZ are equipped with advanced infrastructure and flexibility, making them well-positioned to attract investment and now gain greater international exposure.
Through this new collaboration, Oman aims to create fresh opportunities for knowledge exchange, adoption of global best practices, improved operational efficiency, targeted promotional efforts, and the attraction of high-quality, value-added investments.
Currently, Oman operates 23 special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities, with total investments expected to reach OMR 21 billion by the end of 2024.
The World Free Zones Organization currently includes more than 1,600 zones and economic entities from over 140 countries worldwide.
