Oman today_ The Ministry of Labor in Oman has announced that foreign workers with expired work permits can regularize their residency status without paying any fines until July 31, 2025. This initiative includes the forgiveness of accumulated fines from the past seven years as well as fees related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been implemented to support the foreign workforce and better regulate the labor market.
Omani authorities have emphasized that eligible individuals can use the Ministry of Labor’s online platform to renew their permits or resolve their residency status. Additionally, foreign nationals who wish to permanently leave the country and whose visas have expired can benefit from this exemption by simply presenting a valid return ticket.
The Royal Oman Police has also stated that all technical infrastructure is ready to facilitate the registration and exit process for these individuals and has urged foreign workers to take advantage of this opportunity before the deadline.
This government measure is seen as an effective step toward reducing the financial burden on migrants, improving labor conditions, and increasing transparency in the labor market.
