Oman today_ The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Oman and Oman Airports have introduced new international flight routes aimed at increasing air traffic and attracting more tourists to the Sultanate.
Russian airline Red Wings will commence weekly flights between Muscat and the city of Sochi in Russia starting June 22. This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen international connectivity and expand the network of global destinations. Additionally, the Indian airline IndiGo has launched new direct flights between Kannur in Kerala, India, and Muscat. These flights will operate three times a week, providing passengers with more travel options and enhancing connections between Oman and southern India.
Oman Airports has described these developments as significant steps towards boosting economic and tourism growth, while also expressing gratitude to the CAA for its cooperation in issuing the necessary permits.
However, data reveals an 8.5% decrease in passenger numbers at Oman’s airports in March 2025 compared to the same period last year, with the total dropping to 3.54 million passengers. Despite this, Muscat International Airport remains the busiest in the country, handling 3.18 million passengers during this period.
