Oman today_ The Old Bridge of Mostar, known as “Stari Most,” is located in the city of Mostar in the southwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This historic bridge, built in the 16th century under the orders of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, spans the Neretva River and is recognized as a symbol of Ottoman engineering.
During the Bosnian War in 1993, the bridge was destroyed by Croatian forces. However, with international efforts, including support from UNESCO and the World Bank, the bridge was fully reconstructed and reopened in 2004. In 2005, the Old Bridge and the historic town of Mostar were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Today, Stari Most is not only a significant tourist attraction but also a symbol of reconciliation, cultural coexistence, and international cooperation in the Balkan region.
