Oman today_ The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology of Oman is set to release comprehensive and final details about the Muscat Metro project. This initiative, one of the country’s most significant public transport projects, aims to bring a transformative change to urban mobility.
The proposed metro network, approximately 50 kilometers long, will connect key locations across Muscat. With 36 planned stations, it will offer easy access to landmarks such as Muscat International Airport, the Ruwi commercial district, Al Khuwair city center, and the Ghala industrial area. Additionally, the new Sultan Haitham City will also be linked to this network.
Designed as part of Oman’s Vision 2040, the Muscat Metro project seeks to reduce urban traffic congestion, enhance connectivity between residential and commercial areas, and minimize the environmental impact of urban commuting. It is also geared towards fostering economic growth and achieving sustainability in public transportation.
