Oman today_ In 2024, the Sultanate of Oman became one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Middle East and Africa, with a remarkable 15% increase in international tourist arrivals compared to 2019. It ranked sixth among the best countries in the region. According to the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), Oman hosted 3.89 million visitors by the end of December 2024. The highest number of tourists came from the United Arab Emirates, with 1.185 million visitors, followed by nationals from India and Yemen.
This surge in visitors is attributed to Oman’s strategic location and its efforts to become a regional tourism hub. The country has successfully attracted tourists from neighboring Gulf countries and beyond by improving its tourism infrastructure, implementing effective promotional campaigns, and streamlining visa procedures. Despite challenges such as high transportation and communication costs and political crises, Oman continues to experience growth in its tourism sector.
