Oman today_ The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has released a report on Australia’s hosting of the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
According to the report, 33 teams have expressed their interest in participating in the qualification rounds for the tournament. The teams are as follows: Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Chinese Taipei, North Korea, Guam, Hong Kong, China, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kyrgyz Republic, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Palestine, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
The qualification matches will take place in a group-stage format from June 23 to July 5, 2025.
Additionally, four teams have already secured direct entry into the tournament: China, South Korea, and Japan—the top three teams from the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in India—alongside Australia, the host nation. The 2026 tournament will be held across three Australian cities: Sydney, Perth, and Gold Coast.
Furthermore, the AFC Executive Committee has announced that Uzbekistan will host the 2029 AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
