Oman today_ In 2022, Adidas, in collaboration with Parley for the Oceans, introduced a full-sized floating tennis court on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. This project, aimed at raising awareness about ocean plastic pollution, was temporarily set up in one of Australia’s most beautiful and iconic natural landmarks. The tennis court was made entirely from recycled plastic materials and was mounted on a boat that had been used for environmental projects in the reef.
This unique initiative could be recognized as a new attraction for eco-conscious tourists and those interested in sustainable projects. During the event, prominent Australian athletes such as Ian Thorpe and Jess Fox participated in an exhibition match, showcasing Adidas’ new tennis apparel made from ocean-recycled plastic.
After the event, the surface of the tennis court was donated to a local school in Townsville. This project not only contributed to environmental protection but also provided an opportunity to attract tourists to this special region and raise public awareness about ocean plastic pollution.
