Oman today_ His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, the Sultan of Oman, issued royal directives for the naming of the main and national roads in the country. According to these directives, significant roads, such as the road linking the governorates of Muscat (Muscat), Dakhiliyah (Dakhiliyah Governorate), Dahira (Dahira Governorate), and Al Buraimi (Al Buraimi Governorate), have been named “Sultan Thuwaini bin Said Road”. Additionally, the road connecting the northern and southern parts of Sharqiyah (North and South Sharqiyah Governorates) has been named “Sultan Turki bin Said Road”, and the road connecting Nizwa (Dakhiliyah Governorate) to Salalah (Dhofar Governorate) is now known as “Sultan Said bin Taimur Road”.
The roads under construction have also been included in these changes, such as the Khasab-Lima-Diba Road (in the Musandam Governorate), which has been named “Sultan Faisal bin Turki Road”, and the Al Batinah Coastal Road (extending from South Al Batinah to North Al Batinah), which is now called “Sultan Taimour bin Faisal Road”.
The Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology of Oman emphasized that these changes not only link the roads to Oman’s history and civilization but also align with the country’s development goals and the expansion of the road network to achieve Oman Vision 2040. He also mentioned that since the beginning of His Majesty’s reign, more than 1.5 billion Omani Rials have been invested in road projects, and upon their completion, there will be a qualitative shift in the country’s road network.
