Oman today_ Starting from October 19, users in Oman will be able to easily switch between mobile service providers while keeping their existing phone numbers. This is made possible through the new “Central Number Portability” system, which will undergo a trial phase until November 13, 2025.
The purpose of this trial phase is to test the system’s technical and operational readiness and to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for users. The Central Number Portability system allows users to change their service provider in just a few minutes through simple, automated steps while retaining their current number.
The process works as follows: users first visit the branch of the new provider, submit a number transfer request along with their identification documents, and settle any outstanding dues with their previous provider. The new provider then issues a new SIM card, and within approximately one business day, the user receives a text message confirming that the new SIM card is activated and ready for use. This system ensures that switching between providers is fast, straightforward, and stress-free, giving users full control over their phone numbers.
