Oman today_ The Government of the Sultanate of Oman has received the prestigious “Shokumon” Award from the University of Tokyo, in recognition of its significant role in promoting academic research and strengthening cultural exchange in the field of Middle Eastern studies.

The award ceremony was held in Tokyo, where Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Busaidi, Ambassador of Oman to Japan, accepted the award on behalf of the Omani government.

This honor reflects the valuable impact of a special research center established by Oman in 2011 at the University of Tokyo, dedicated to studying and exploring Middle Eastern affairs. Since its establishment, the center has played an important role in fostering academic dialogue and advancing research related to regional issues.

The “Shokumon” Award is the highest distinction granted by the University of Tokyo and is awarded only to individuals or institutions that have made outstanding contributions to the university’s academic and research objectives.

Oman’s receipt of this award marks a historic milestone, as it is the first time in the award’s history that an Arab government has been honored with this distinguished recognition.
