Oman today_ FC Barcelona has unveiled its latest jersey design in collaboration with Spotify — this time featuring British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. The logo of his new album, “Play,” appears at the center of the shirt, marking the seventh Spotify logo change on Barça’s kit. The design will first debut in the women’s team match against Granada on October 19, and will return for the highly anticipated El Clásico against Real Madrid on October 26.
In the official video released on the club’s Instagram page, Barcelona introduced the new jersey using Ed Sheeran’s hit song “Darling.” The track has recently become extremely popular among Iranian users, leading to a significant portion of the video’s views and shares coming from fans in Iran.
Ed Sheeran currently has over 92 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with 14 of his songs surpassing one billion streams on the platform. His new record, Play, is his eighth studio album — a project inspired by global travels, cultural encounters, and the sounds and stories he’s collected along the way. This sense of exploration and connection resonates deeply with Barcelona’s international spirit and creative identity. Featuring the “Play” logo on the jersey highlights music’s power to transcend borders and unite people through shared emotion and creativity.
Known for its youthful energy and innovative style of play — nurtured through the La Masia academy — Barcelona once again blurs the line between sport and art, continuing its tradition of collaborations with global artists such as Travis Scott, Coldplay, Karol G, The Rolling Stones, Rosalía, and Drake.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Ed Sheeran said that seeing his album displayed on Barcelona’s shirt is “one of those moments that’s hard to believe.” A lifelong football fan with a special love for the city of Barcelona, he described the experience as a meaningful opportunity to share his music with fans around the world.
Robert Lewandowski also commented on the partnership, noting that Ed Sheeran’s music has long been part of the team’s locker-room playlist. He added that seeing the artist’s new album logo on their kit in El Clásico feels “truly special,” as music and football together have the power to unite people in a profound way.
