Oman today_ The official trailer for Die My Love, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, has been released. Directed by Lynne Ramsay, the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, after which Mubi acquired the distribution rights for $24 million.
The film is adapted from the novel Die, My Love by Ariana Harwitt and tells the story of a woman who experiences severe psychological struggles after giving birth in a remote village in France. Alongside Lawrence and Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield plays the role of the woman’s lover, while Cécile de France and Nick Nolte are also part of the cast.
Following the Cannes screening, director Lynne Ramsay responded to negative reviews, clarifying that the film is not about postpartum issues. Instead, it explores the breakdown of a relationship, changes in love and sexual life after having a child, and an artistic blockage.
During the festival’s press conference, Jennifer Lawrence spoke about the impact of motherhood on her life, noting that it has influenced every decision regarding her work and career, while also opening new doors in both her personal and professional life.
Martin Scorsese, one of the film’s producers, encouraged Lawrence to take on the role after reading the novel in 2020. Previously, Mubi distributed The Substance, directed by Coralie Fargeat, which earned Demi Moore her first Oscar and Golden Globe nominations.
Die My Love is scheduled for release on November 7.
