Oman today_ The Royal Oman Police have announced that the digital identity, accessible through a mobile application, is now legally recognized. In situations where physical cards or documents are not available, it can be presented to the competent authorities, including the police. A police spokesperson emphasized that in the absence of a physical card, the digital identity can be legally used.
Additionally, a list of new electronic services to be offered through the digital application in 2025 has been released. These services include:
1- The ability to report human trafficking activities
2- Submitting reports of technical issues
3- Using the digital identity on electronic travel portals
4- Verifying individuals’ identities in financial transactions
5- Issuing certificates and permits via the police website
6- Updating contact information for individuals and children, including phone numbers, emails, and electricity meter numbers
7- Printing new driving licenses through self-service machines
8- Viewing various documents such as ID cards, passports, investment cards, and relevant staff information via the app
9- Booking appointments for video calls with prisoners
10- Accessing family members’ information and using the app like a bank card or replacing a lost card through Bank Muscat machines

These initiatives are part of Oman’s broader efforts to digitize services and facilitate citizens’ access to government services.
