Oman today_ Gásadalur village is located in the western part of Vágar Island, one of the 18 islands of the Faroe Islands in Denmark. This small village is famous for its stunning waterfall, attracting many photographers and tourists. However, its population is very low; in 2012, it had only 18 residents, and today, many of its houses remain unoccupied.
One of the reasons for the population decline in Gásadalur is its geographical location. The village is situated at a high elevation above sea level and is surrounded by tall mountains. In the past, traveling between this village and nearby areas was difficult, requiring residents to take a long and challenging route through the mountains. In 2004, a tunnel was built through the mountains, allowing access by car. However, this improvement has not significantly increased the village’s population, and Gásadalur remains a beautiful yet sparsely populated village.
