Oman today_ Oman has relaunched its e-visa program for 2025, allowing international students from various countries to travel to the country more easily for studies or short-term visits.
This initiative aims to enhance accessibility and expedite the processing of applications through the Royal Oman Police (ROP) e-visa portal.
Students and applicants seeking higher education or short-term stays in Oman can now apply for their visas online without the need for in-person visits to consulates. This digital platform enables users to submit documents, pay fees, and receive approvals quickly and efficiently.
Introduction of Tourist Visas Without a Sponsor
One of the key updates to the e-visa program is the introduction of tourist visas that do not require a local sponsor. Eligible applicants from various countries can use this visa to participate in educational events or short-term visits without the need for a local guarantor. This feature is particularly beneficial for those planning short stays during academic holidays or post-graduation.
Expanded Access and Policy Changes
Oman’s e-visa program is now available to citizens of over 100 countries, aligning with Muscat’s strategy to attract more international visitors, including students.
At the same time, Oman has implemented restrictions on issuing work visas, particularly in the construction and hospitality sectors, as part of its nationalization policy aimed at creating more job opportunities for Omani citizens.
Additionally, starting in 2025, health insurance will be mandatory for all expatriates, including students, who must be covered under policies provided by their employer or sponsor.
